Animal-Assisted Therapy

Welcome to Unity Psychiatry, where we believe in the magic of Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) to uplift spirits and promote well-being. Led by the dynamic duo of Sarah Monceaux and her therapy dog Indy, our AAT program offers a unique and holistic approach to treatment that brings comfort, joy, and connection to our clients.

Where It Began

The roots of Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) run deep, with animals providing companionship and solace to humans for centuries. One of the earliest pioneers of AAT was Florence Nightingale, the renowned nurse who recognized the positive impact of animals on patient well-being. Inspired by Nightingale's observations, we've embraced the age-old tradition of animal companionship and integrated it into our therapeutic approach.

Unlocking Mental
Health Benefits

Research has shown that interacting with animals like Indy can work wonders for mental health. From reducing stress and anxiety to improving mood and overall emotional well-being, the unconditional love and calming presence of animals create a safe space for clients to explore their emotions and find comfort during therapy sessions.

Meet Indy

The chill hippie therapy dog

Meet Indy, the epitome of chill and the driving force behind our AAT program. With her laid-back vibe and groovy personality, Indy redefines what it means

to be a "therapy dog."

When she's not busy brightening the days of our clients, Indy is living her best life. Whether she's lounging in the pool, basking in the sunshine, or engaging in epic battles with her mini schnauzer brother, Goat, this pup knows

how to keep things interesting.

But don't let her relaxed demeanor fool you—Indy is always ready for an adventure! Whether it's accompanying her humans to work, spreading love during visits to those in need, or rocking the latest bow styles, she's constantly

on the move, spreading joy wherever she goes.

Indy's love for people knows no bounds. From visiting classrooms for career day to providing support to students grieving the loss of a peer, her gentle nature

and comforting presence create a safe and

supportive environment for healing and expression.

And let's not forget about Indy's literary side! This cultured pup adores being read to, proving that therapy dogs appreciate a good story just as much as anyone else.

So, if you're seeking furry friend therapy,

look no further than Indy. With her wagging tail and infectious zest for life, she's sure to bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart.
